Meet Vendor Nikki Tobias
 by Sherri Schroeder

Nikki and CeCe by Jim FranckOne of our newest booths at the Northside Farmers Market is Nikki Tobias' Heart Smile Bakery.

Nikki has lived and baked in the Madison area all of her life. Friends and family members encouraged Nikki to bake more of her cookies and now she's selling them.

Stop by her booth and you'll most likely meet Nikki's daughter, CeCe. CeCe is a people person who enjoys selling mom's cookies. The arrangement allows mother and daughter to spend time together, having fun learning how to run a business.

Heart Smile Bakery's most popular item is the Whole Wheat Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate Chip cookie, kind of a meal in itself! It is an AWESOME cookie (yes, I had one and cannot wait for the next Farmers Market to have another). Nikki is usually able to fill special orders with a 24 hour notice.

Nikki wants our customers to know that she is excited about being part of the Northside Farmers Market and getting to know more of her fellow vendors.

Expected at the May 18th Market: Asparagus, grass-finished beef, buffalo, eggs, cheese, chives, hand-made chocolates, cookies, elk, flowers and plants, hickory nuts, onions, maple syrup, meats, morels, perch, poultry, preserves, rhubarb, gourmet sausage, spinach, fresh bottled milk and yogurt, walnuts and more! This list could change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

What's New?

Sunday's looking like a beautiful day for the market!

More fabulous local produce is appearing now, so plan your week's menu and get all your fresh veggies and meats on Sunday.

Asparagus is coming to the market in more abundance every week.. and we have not yet come into the height of its season. See the recipe for Asparagus Quiche, below. Morels will be more and more plentiful for the next few weeks, too.

Stop by our new vendor, Hamann Charcuterie, for gourmet sausage or bratwurst and fire up your grills!

PS> Don't forget your weekly requirement of bakery.

Clipboard

We need a "People Person" on Sunday.

We need a little help on Sundays, gathering information from our vendors for publication on our website and in our press releases.

So if you love the market and wouldn't mind strolling around and talking to some great folks (we'll supply the questions), please call Jim Franck at 246-2550.
