Thanksgiving Prep!

Hudsons

Where to find fresh foods for Thanksgiving?  Look no further than your own Northside Winter Farmers Market coming to you this Sunday from 10 - 1 next to Family Dollar.

We have a full house including Ken Ruegsegger who will be bringing local apples, local cranberries, and cranberry relish. More fresh cauliflowerproduce from Hudson's, Liz Wymann, Youa Lor Farm, Salzman's Farm, Keene Organics, Rare Earth Products, Kazuag Vang, Higher Ground Urban Farm, Christensen Farms, and Earth Rise Farms.

Plus meats, cheeses, jams, honey and more from Rolling Hills Honey, Farmer John's Cheese, CC Angus, Tomato Mountain and Polly Jane’s Jams.  And don't forget our new vendors Wild Flour Bakery and Herb n-Oyster.  For a special treat check out Capital City Cookies.

We will have hot food, coffee, and brunch from Brady's Market Cafe. In addition, for this Sunday our art vendors include Maggs Creations, Dawley Carr Studios (solar fleece socks, hats, mitts, knitted garments, and graphics), Jean Mani with hand made soap and candles. Also at the market this week is Eleanor Gbedey (soy candles) and Jose Gonzalez (fleece blankets). Finally, joining us this Sunday is the Blackhawk M.S. Spirit Club raising funds for Heifer International.

New Vendor Showcase
By Chris Moore

Katy and Mark from Christensen Farms plan to be at our next market with eggs and winter squash unless a new member of their family arrives, which should be any day now.

Another vendor to keep your eye out for is Billy Kelsey from Rare Earth Products bringing us not only winter squash, broom corn, onions, potatoes, cat grass, red potatoes, cabbage, garlic, but also house plants, holiday wreaths, and gourds.

Dave and Josh from Wild Flour Bakery will be at all of our Winter Markets.  They have been making bread from traditional European recipes for 12 years.  You can even look them up online!

Herb'n Oyster Mushroom Farm comes to us from McFarland. Joe & Kari grow gourmet mushrooms and make handcrafted herbal soaps.  Products include shitake mushroomsmushrooms, mushroom seasoning (shitake, oyster, porchini mushrooms, garlic, onion, sea salt), dried mushrooms (for stuffing turkeys) and pure soap (oatmeal honey, mint, use pure essential oils, all natural, no preservatives).  They have been doing this for seven years – stop by and welcome them to our market!

Maggs Creations
By Margaret 'Maggs' Kailhofer

Satisfy your Inner Magpie with Something Shiny!  Maggs makes handmade fused and lampworked glass jewelry and small glass sculptural items. For the holidays, she also has beautiful glass icicles, made in her home studio (the icicles make wonderful wind chimes, too). Maggs lives right here on the North side, and if you are interested in taking any flameworking classes (you can learn how to make your own glass beads) or having custom jewelry made, she will be happy to help you. Check out Maggs website!

And the last word is from Farmer John:

Hope to see you at the next market!
